Sit everyone in a circle. Each sitting area is assigned a name or number, starting with Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, one, two, three, four, etc. (until everyone has a number)
Everyone joins in, repeating a four-count rhythm, slapping their legs twice, clapping once, and silence for one count (i.e. slap, slap, clap, slap, slap, clap ….., etc.).
“Matthew” always starts.
On the first count (leg slap), he calls his own name (Matthew), then the name/number of another position. That person must then call their own number, followed by the name/number of another’s position.
If someone misses the rhythm or fails to properly call their own name or number, etc., they occupy the last position, and the game starts over.
The objective of the game is to become ‘Matthew’, and stay in that position as long as possible.
